Are you a teacher or learning support staff member who loves the idea of starting a kitchen garden program at your school but don’t know where to start? Let us help you with a registered professional learning day at Penrith Lakes EEC. We will give you the information and the tools to get started and the time to collaborate and network with like minded school communities.

The program is designed for students to achieve educational, wellbeing and sustainability outcomes through curriculum embedded, cross KLA lesson sequences. The PLEEC Kitchen Gardens program teaches a range of life skills, supports critical thinking, communication, problem solving and team work skills.

Nature Play and Outdoor Learning

Penrith Lakes Environmental Education Centre will deliver their ‘Nature Play and Outdoor Learning’ professional development program for teachers in both primary and secondary schools. This full day, hands on PL, is for any teacher who wants to learn new and innovative ways to engage their students with nature and the outdoors whilst addressing and enhancing educational and wellbeing outcomes. Delivered by Penrith Lakes Education Centre staff in the beautiful outdoor spaces of Penrith Lakes area, participants will experience a range of hands on activities and reflective practice to inspire and engage students outside and in nature. Teachers will obtain various resources, such as a program, risk assessment, permission notes etc., enabling them to start and run a ‘Nature Play and Outdoor Learning’ program at their school.

Using Geographical Tools for Geography Teachers Yr7-12

There is a shortage of fully trained Stage 4-6 Geography teachers across DoE.

This course is led by fully qualified and experienced Stage 4-6 Geography teachers, seeks to upskill HISE teachers teaching Stage 4-6 Geography KLA and further build their professional capacity in the teaching of the Stage 4-6 Geography Syllabus.

On the day, participating teachers will gain a range of new knowledge and skills in how to effectively engage Stage 4-6 students into Geography KLA using a range of shared resources and practical ‘hands on’ activities.

This increased teacher knowledge and skills will result in more Stage 4-6 Geography KLA learning outcomes being achieved by Stage 4-6 Geography students.
