Teaching with Turtles – Stages 2-6

“Teaching with Turtles” is an engaging educational program for Stage 2 to Stage 6 students that connects them with freshwater turtles and local ecosystems. Part of the “1 Million Turtles” project, it emphasises sustainability and incorporates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. Students participate in hands-on activities, collaborate with experts like ecologist Tom Covell and Professor Ricky Spencer, and contribute to conservation research.

The program aligns with all four HPGE domains and offers a micro-qualification from Western Sydney University, enriching students’ educational experiences and promoting environmental stewardship.
